In post-war Poland, nun Anna (Magdalena Cielecka) is brought to a location where she is to look after a political prisoner (Olgierd Lukaszewicz). She quickly discovers that the prisoner is the very priest who was her first great love and who inspired her to take her vows. Unbeknown to Anna, the two of them have been set up by the Stalinist security services in an attempt to discredit the priest. An examination of the conflicting forces of the human psyche, The Temptation teases out the sexual and spiritual tensions that tug at a woman trapped between the communist state and the Church. The film took home awards at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Gdynia Polish Film Festival.
